Pakistan, Qatar Call for De-escalation Amid Rising Mideast Tensions

(MENAFN) Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif held talks with Qatari Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani to discuss the evolving security situation in the Middle East, including ongoing diplomatic efforts aimed at reducing regional tensions.

According to Pakistan’s Foreign Ministry, Sharif reiterated Islamabad’s commitment to resolving disputes through dialogue and peaceful diplomacy while expressing appreciation for Qatar’s support in ongoing mediation efforts.

Both leaders emphasized the importance of maintaining ceasefire arrangements, preventing further escalation, and working toward restoring regional stability. This marked their second conversation in two days, during which they also reviewed broader bilateral cooperation.

The Qatari side reportedly expressed support for Pakistan’s role in facilitating dialogue and stressed the need for continued engagement among relevant parties to reach a comprehensive agreement aimed at long-term peace in the region.

The discussions come amid continued volatility in the region following earlier military confrontations involving the US, Israel, and Iran, as well as ongoing concerns over maritime security and nuclear-related infrastructure.

Separately, Pakistan’s Foreign Ministry also condemned a reported drone attack on the Barakah Nuclear Energy Plant in the United Arab Emirates, warning that strikes on nuclear facilities pose severe risks to human life, the environment, and broader regional stability.
